Ever felt like the sun left and all around you is just rainy storms?? For a very long time, I felt as though I was in just one season all my life; turmoil and no peace. Even as an adult, so much was going on I thought God has forgotten me. Today, when I look back at what I have been through and seeing the move of God upon my life like never before; I can encourage you and let you know; HE REMEMBERS….GOD REMEMBERS. I remember many nights of weeping and wailing because I couldn’t deal with this season of lack, anxiety, frustration and depression. Permit me to share with you how the text below has encouraged me; may it do the same for you.

Exodus 2:23-25

23 Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. 24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

After the Israelite were in bondage for so long they were groaning after the death of the King.
The bondage was so great that even after the death of the King, the pain was still there. It was traumatic, unfair, unjust and torturous.

This indicates to me that there was a soul issue here. They didn’t just cried but they groaned, which suggests that the pain was deep. They cried out to God for help. It can be assumed that the pain was so unbearable and the impact of the trauma did great damage to their souls.

Likewise, after that thing that oppresses you goes away or dies, the rapist, the abuser, the parent that verbally disfigured you, the broken marriage, that season of great storms ; the trauma, grief and pain is great.

The word says that God heard their groaning. Their cry wasn’t of self pity but to reach the heart of God. They were in pain.Then God REMEMBERED His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

God is a covenant keeping God and like the Israelite, when we cry out to God he hears us. He remembers the promises He made for our lives even before we were placed in our mother’s womb. Our cry rings in God’s ear.

Not only did God remember the covenant but he looked upon the children of Israel and acknowledged them. Many people look at us and don’t acknowledge us. But when God look at us and acknowledge us He will act. God has heard, He remembered, He saw, He acknowledged and He is going to act.

Be encouraged beloved…You are a promise and a prophecy just like the children of Israel. God has not forgotten you..He has heard your cry…He has acknowledged your pain and He is about to send a Moses. HE REMEMBERS!!
